numbness in arm

I had a supra cervical laproscopic hysterctectomy on Monday 03-12-07, I complained several times while in the hospital an no one thought it was a big deal. I have no sensitivity in the underside of my left arm. The iv was in this arm. It feels as if the underside of my arm is asleep and will not wake up. I also have extreme tenederness strill where the IV was placed on the side of my wrist. Could this be nerve damage should I seek a seconsd opinion? My OBGYN says not to worry about it.
