Hi. I had anterior cervical discectomy. I think something went wrong. I still feel pain, especially in the incision area, and numbness in my fingers. Should I be worried? Should I seek medical help?
Hi. I had anterior cervical discectomy too. It is really normal to feel pain after the surgery. It is also normal to feel pain in the neck and arms. This pain is caused by inflammation of the compressed nerve. You may be prescribed with some meds to control pain. Numbness that you feel in your fingers is also normal. It should gradually go away. I have to wear a cervical collar now and to increase the amount of walking each day. You may find it painful at first, so try making short trips, to the bathroom or something like that.
