Hello! I am not sure that the lymph nodes would swell once the infection had gone. occipital nodes are situated on the back of the head at the hairline and I am also not sure that these swollen nodes would be swollen because of the rash that occurred in the groin area.

Occipital nodes may swell due to infections of superficial tissue of the orbit, the middle ear, and the parotid glands, it is very rarely due to malignancy.

Occipital nodes may also swell due to Rubella that is accompanied by rash but the rash would start around the face and move slowly downwards. However, the swelling subsides in just a few days.

If your swollen nodes have been present for quite some time, I suggest you take him to a doc to check the groin rash and other possible infections.
