Hi there! I get this very strong vaginal odor every time my boyfriend ejaculates inside of me and no matter how much I wash this awful smell stays for about 3 days. Luckily he doesn’t do that often because we don’t use any other protection but when it happens I get the smell.
I reckon this is due to the presence of normal, friendly bacteria that lives in the vagina and makes the environment acidic, prevent overgrowth of other normally present organisms in vagina.

This kind of bacteria can also become excessive and maybe this is what is causing your smell. Has this smell started before you got together with your current boyfriend or you had it before? Because I seem to get this smell since I got together with my current boyfriend and once I read somewhere that we (our smells) are not compatible. I don’t know if this is true or not.

What usually causes overgrowth of friendly bacteria are synthetic underwear, pantyhose, tights that do not allow air to circulate around the vulva. I found some of the tips you may find useful to try to reduce the odor if it was caused by overgrowths of normal skin bacteria.
You should be washing yourself with warm water and gentle soap with mild antibacterial action. Wear cotton-only underwear. Try to air you vagina during the night by wearing
a night gown or sleep naked (down). Make sure your vaginal area is dry, don’t douche, and avoid all vaginal deodorants, deodorant panty liners and tampons, powders and perfumes. Hope this helps and I hope you won’t break your relationship because of this.
