Hi, my brother has acute manic episodes and his doctor prescribed him a drug called Olanzapine. I don`t know anything about that med, only that is use for treating schizophrenia (and acute manic episodes). But, I`ve noticed some strange reactions on my brother and I blame Olanzapine. He started to see unclear and feel dizzy like all the time. Dry mouth and runny nose. Also, his behavior has been changed (but hey, he has acute manic episodes). Don`t know what are the side effects of Olanzapine. Anybody with any info?

Hi, I have a daughter, she was diagnosed with schizophrenia and she`s on Olanzapine. It`s a drug known as atypical antipsychotics. There are some side effects that (usually) don`t require medical attention, like the one you described. In some cases you must get some professional help, and those side effects include hostile behavior, stiffness, trembling, confusion, difficulties in breathing, speaking or concentration, excessive thirst or hunger, fast heartbeat, skin rash, convulsions, smacking lips and puffing cheeks. But, side effects such as blurred vision, joint pain, nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, lowered blood pressure or runny nose, usually don`t require to be reported.
