open inguinal hernia surgery recovery

I had open inguinal hernia surgery 5 days ago on my right side. I have a pulling pain below the surgery site when I stand or walk for more than a few minutes. The pain goes away when I sit or lie down. Is this a normal part of my recovery? Or does the pulling pain, which only started yesterday, mean something is wrong. The surgery cut seems to be healing and there is not much swelling.
