My daughter has a seizure disorder (Landau-Kleffner Syndrome). She has complex-partial seizures and secondary generalized seizures. All of the diagnosises have been made within the past year. During the night, she has spike wave patterns during sleep. It has been a difficult year, and we have seen horrible changes. At one point, she lost her ability to comprehend speech (her hearing test was normal, although she appered as though she couldn't hear/understand). This has improved with new medicine, but now she is having a difficult time seeing the board/ work at school. At an eye exam (she has always had normal vision in the past), we were told her optic nerve on one side is pale (abnormal). Does anyone know of any correlation between the seizures and the optic nerve? Any suggestions?
