I had orthognathic surgery about a year ago to correct an open bite, but since then I've had tmj pain. I have an internal derangement of the disc and none of the conservative therapies are working. I've tried the anti inflammatories and muscle relaxants and I am currently wearing a bite splint which isn't really working. I've tried arthrocentesis once but it only slightly improved the pain and the deviation, but I was still in braces at the time. It looks like my only options at this point are to try the arthrocentesis again now that I am out of braces and if that doesn't work a more invasive surgery to reposition or remove the disk.

Please help! Are there any other alternatives? Sad

Consider Larry Wolford DMD in Dallas TX, Baylor Univ Med Center. Perhaps he can help. Good luck!
