I am a 46 year old female and this has happened to me 6 or 8 times in my life and two or three times before I ever had sex. I have also had the same thing on the middle of my butt cheek and in my armpit....and I wouldn't call that herpies. I would however have it checked if it spread and you had two in the same area or if it happened again in the near future. By the way I had one checked by my gynecologist once and he popped it and drained it for me. He said it was an ingrown hair. Be watchful and responsible, but don't get scared by alarmists. |
You might have something called Hidradenitis Supperativa (sp?) it causes sensitive sores that look like zits (but usually a lot larger/more painful) in the groin, underarm, and sometimes underneath breast regions. Look it up ladies if you have oddly huge and sore zit looking things.
As far as the zits in the vaginal region- they freak me out too, but it's just normal ingrown hair stuff.
WTF- to the person who said it was herpes right away. |

I've been sick with a sore throat and fever for a few days, on the first night i was sick i noticed a pimple between my butt checks, today i noticed i have two more on my vaginal lip and one in my mouth...normally i would read all this and relax but the fact that i have one in my mouth is weird...i would appreciate any advice |

yeah dude, true story:
i had what looked like a red bump for like 2 weeks. i washed it daily and was constantly freaking out that it was herpes, however it wasn't painful, didn't itch, and didn't "crust" like normal herpes. it just kinda chilled there, doing nothing until i went to the bathroom one day and noticed that it had a white head. i was like wwwtttffff is thatttt!!!
and then the slightest poke and it popped. might i add, it had a few short ungrown looking hairs within the puss, leading me to believe it was a hair follicle that just got germy and infected, since i do shave down there.
since it was an open follicle after it popped, i drained some more puss and blood and then washed it with warm water and dove soap (sensitive soap ftw).
relax. i assume it was a pimple, since your whole bodyy is covered in pores that can get dirt and oil trapped, creating a pimple.
haha, google what herpes looks like, and it probably looks NOTHING like it.
BUT ALWAYS WASH YOUR HANDS ANYWAY, ya knowww :P |

| I've had something like that probably 3 times before. I wouldn't be worried, it's probably just a pimp and will go away soon. Just don't irritate it more! |

this is right it has to do with some people being more reactive to a bacteria. i forget the name but always use clean towels and clean under wear. wash delicates in non-fragrant detergent and make sure they are rinsed very well and avoid touching. the bacteria can be found under your nails and it gets into your pores even if you don't shave. naturally shaving makes it more noticeable and common. try not to pop these as that can cause them to spread and become inflamed and sore. i used to get them ALL the time. best to get disposable razors if you want to shave and always use them only once and toss them. trust me and give it a little time in between shaving so you don't pop and spread them. i stared wearing pj pants and going commando so nothing rubbed against the area. and looser boy shorts when under wear was needed( i.e.- in jeans) try reducing friction. and genital soaps when washing. remember no soap on inner vaginal parts as it can be very harmful. I still get them every once and a while but i have greatly reduced the number and now i can shave like twice a week with out completely being covered in them. BUT ALWAYS ALWAYS SEE A DOCTOR IF YOU THINK SOMETHING IS JUST NOT RIGHT. IT MAY SEEM EMBARRASSING BUT NOT AS MUCH AS IT WOULD BE IF YOU DO HAVE SOMETHING AND SPREAD IT TO SOMEONE YOU CARE ABOUT AND LATER HAVE TO TELL THEM. THEY SEE STRANGE GROSS THINGS ALL THE TIME.[/list] |

Its something we'll live with for the rest of our life, even with doctors, meds ...I speak from experiance. Its NOT a STD since there is puss, and blood. But if in doudt Please see a doctor. I did and what I thought was a nightmare was nothing more then over active oil gland with sometimes ingrown hairs.
I have found if I soak in a clean tub of warm to hot water with or without Epsom Salt for 30 minutes, and spot treat these little devils with "Tea Tree Oil" or "Oregano oil" after drying off it helps speed up the healing procces and they POP! "Oregano Oil is abit to stingy for me, but the Tee tree Oil works great. What a feeling once they do. I had one of these painful boogers one time at my Best friends wedding and every step was making me want to scream out Bloody MURDER!
Also I make sure not to use the same towel. I always use a new clean one. This helps preventing cross contamination.
I hope this helps my fellow sisters or even men. Your not in this alone.

It really sounds like a bartholin cyst. Which if it does not rupture on its on, will need to be drained. It is very painful though.

I've had dozens of them over the years (before I was sexually active, and before I ever started shaving). Sometimes they're on the inner lip of my labia, sometimes on my clitoris, and (worst ever) sometimes right at the entrance to the vagina. When I was a teenager, I asked my mom about them, and she said they were probably ingrown hairs, so I've just gritted my teeth and born it.
Lately they've gotten a lot worse, so I've started to get concerned. There have been a few days when, like the poster above, I've avoided underwear altogether while at home just to avoid the irritation, and have still been getting multiple ones in a row (in various locations), especially about a week after my period.
I actually had one of the nastier ones the last time I had a PAP smear, so I pointed it out to my doctor, and she told me I had a bartholin cyst. The antibiotics she prescribed cleared it up (and kept me free of them for a few months), but I googled bartholin cysts, and the descriptions I read were nothing really like what I've had, though that particular one was in the right place: but mine aren't localized like that, and they've certainly never approached the size of a golf ball (ow!! how horrible that must be!).
Since the antibiotics helped, however, I'm guessing the bacterial sensitivity thing brought up here may be the culprit: I've also been having much more acne than I've ever had in my life (and I wash my face twice a day), so perhaps something's up with my immune system or my ph balance. Who knows, but it's irritating as hell.
In any case, thank you all for the comments here. I occasionally get freaked out by these things, and knowing some of the home remedies that may help (soaking in hot baths, avoiding irritating soaps, changing razors often) is really comforting. |
