Hello! I am 42 year-old woman and I have always had regular periods. However, two months ago I got my period but it was late, then prolonged, and the color was very dark red. This month it didn’t came at all, so I went to the gynecologist and she told me that I have some polyps on my left ovary, size about 2cm. She suggested no treatment, she just told me to come back in another 3 months and get tested again. My stomach has been bloated for over a month now, and it doesn’t feel comfortable at all. How dangerous are these polyps. Will they grow bigger? Thank you
Hello! To be honest, I have never heard of ovarian polyps. I did hear about ovarian cysts because I had them. They were about the size of your “polyps” and my stomach was also bloated. Ovarian cysts are sacs filled with fluid or a semisolid material that develops on or within the ovary. They usually disappear within 60 days without any treatment. I was prescribed oral contraceptive to help establish normal cycles and decrease the development of functional ovarian cysts.
