hi i have been taken these oxytetracycline tablets for about 9 months two twice a day,i was just reaserching it on the internet and found out the course should only be 8 weeks,but me doctor says to stay on them but i he did say to reduce it to 1 twice a day.i usethese tablets for acne.can i get any bad effects when i come off them like organ damage please help

Hi! I was also using Oxytetracycline for over three months but my doctor discontinued them because I had no improvement. My acne were not “that” bad but I would burst real bad sometimes which would then take time to disappear. I was taking 250 mg at first, then he changed the dosage but to no avail and then he decided to stop.

I haven’t heard of any negative long-term effects but I do know that it could cause side effects like nausea or vomiting, abdominal cramps and itchiness but I haven’t heard of any organ damage.

I suppose your doctor knows what he’s doing. Have you seen any improvement since you have been using them?

thanks very much for you help yes i have seen a lot of improvement since iv been on them even thought it took 4 months to notice the improvement

i use these tablets too. my doctor has told me to use them for six months as i used duac cream but it made no difference...am i wasting my time taking these tablets or do they really work?
