i am 46. I have had for about 2yrs intermittant episodes of a painful gland under the angle of my jaw. it doesnt feel swollen but is very painful and causes pain inside my throat when i swallow. when its bad the tenderness extends to the whole side of my face, ear and neck. I dont have any typical sore throat symptoms just pain in this very specific place. inside when i swallow it feels like a lump. saw gp twice both times it had resolved by the time i got appt, both docs said pulled neck muscle?? i dont want to go back. it is getting worse, waking me up at night and lasting longer.
