Just increased to 5 liters of O2, 24/7. O2 drops drastically with the smallest amount of activity. Showering & Gettin dressed usually causes O2 to drop to 78ish, that using the nasal cannula on 5 liters. Had V Q test to determine if blood clot was causing this problem which has worsened in the last 2-3 weeks. This was just done yesterday so all we know is that I could go home after test so we assume it is not a blood clot. previous to this is was 'suggestged' it may be a partially paralyzed diaphram. Cause could be from the Intervenous morphine pump installed in abdoman for pain control to spinal column. (Advanced degerative disc disease)...also had cervical surgery as well as 2 lower disc surgeries. During the VQ my wife noticed that one lung outline was very much shorted than the right.
Could this be due to the diaphram being paralyzed on the left side? Also the pump is located on the left side--coincidence? At one time I had a problem with a kink in the tubing of the pump which resulted in more surgery to fix....also had a bolus injection when they did not asperate the pump (mixed up comm) Had to spend night in ICU as this was an overdose and they were not sure where the excess morphine went. I know this is long but I am quite complicated. Also could not do CatScan w/contrast due to High creatine/protein in blood. A precurser to multiple mylenoma. Any comments to help would be appreciated as right now I am confined to home. Thanks,
