Hi, I have good days and bad days, but not as bad before surgery. I have no bone pain, but my energy level is still low. Almost six weeks.
I take 2 Citracal with vitamin D daily and mutiple vitamin. I am going to change my vitamins next week to see if that helps. I just had labs this week and don't know the results yet, but I so hope calcium is normal. I was a rare case as i never had a high PTH level. My pre-op PTH was 16 and my calcium was 11.5. When they told me hyperplasia I was so shocked. I am 62 and I wasted so many years thinking I would get better. Have you seen a endocrinologist with these new symptoms? I hope yours is better than mine. Please keep me posted on your condition. |

When is the last time you had lab work done? I don't understand the path report. Did you contact the dr's office about this? I would. My calcium is 400 IU of VIT D and 630mg of calcium. I am sure you should be taking some calcium. I don't know about magnesium. |

I'm also a rare case...my serum calcium was at the high end of normal, never elevated. It was my ionized calcium that was high with a PTH anywhere from 49 to 70. These numbers didn't convince any endochronolologist that it was hyperparathyroidism. Dr. Norman made the diagnosis. Low and behold....this was a double adenoma.
I too had labs this week. I'll keep you posted. Please do the same for me. |

My endocronologist is no good either...I'm actually seeing a GP who is more with it. He wasn't sure what to think about the pathologist report that came in though. I emailed Dr. Norman about it and he said my remaining 2 glands were perfect. So.....who's right? Pathology? Norman?Please keep in touch. |

You know I would believe Dr Norman, because he checks the other glands during surgery. I just don't think he would skip over one. I wasn't sure if they sent the parathyroid tumors to path or not as my billing was just for my thyroid nodule he removed. It looks like you are a rare bird like me with normal PTH levels. I am interested in knowing your levels when you get reports back. Both calcium levels for me were high and higher before surgery. This is so nice to have someone to talk with regarding this disease as most people don't know about the disease or could care less...lol..keep your chin up better days ahead. |
