Hi, I’m 14 years old. I need information about parathyroids. What’s the function of these organs in our bodies? Where are they located? Please inform me!

Parathyroids are small endocrine glands. There are 4 parathyroid glands in human body and they are about size of grain of rice. Their function is to control level of calcium in our bodies. They produce hormone PTH which has influence on bones to release calcium ion into blood stream when it’s needed. Hyperactivity of parathyroids may cause osteoporosis and kidney problems.
