period after 3 yaers without age 55

I have no periods for over 3 years I amm 55yrs old sore breasts last week back ache for 2 days and stomach ache yesterday started bleeding very light sore breasts have gone still got back ache and mild stomach ache had headache also but that has now gone Is this normal

I stopped taking birth control pills over three years ago and have not had a period since. I even mentioned this to a couple of doctors and they just told me to start taking the pill again and I should get it back but I dont like taking birthcontrol and I dont think I should have to take it to get a period, that doesnt seem normal to me. I dont like the way it makes me feel, gain weight ect...I dont understand why I would have to take a pill to make me have my period??
