For about a month I’ve been having a periodic tingling sensation in the right side of my back in the same spot. It usually comes and goes, but is starting to come more regularly. I am wondering what this could be from?

I think since is a tingling sensation in the same spot on the back it is a nerve, but It could be early symptoms of shingles, a possible back injury, or any number of different back concerns… periodic tingling could be caused by your back bone being displaced in such a way that the nerves cannot do what they are supposed to do for example. I would encourage you to make an appointment to see a physician as soon as possible.

Hi,

Didi you find out what it was? I have exactly the same thing, my GP thinks it is just a nerve but I think I will go to a neurologist as it isn't getting better....

Thanks,
Alex

This is starting to happen to me as well... odd... below my shoulder blade toward the middle of my back. It happens now and then but it goes away. What was your diagnosis?

I have the same tingling sensation on the right upper-hand side of my back. The strange thing was that it seemed to start at a new mole - which looked completely normal - and spread around.

I went to the dermatologist today and had the mole removed. My back is still tingling, but I'm not sure if it's from the stiches I required or if it's the same issue I had before I had the mole removed. This stinks!

I've had the same sensation on my back and starting to wonder if I should see my primary care physician. It is not painful but definitely feels very strange - like if ants were walking on the spot.

I just started researching this tonight, it's been bugging me for a long time and my gf thinks I'm crazy because there is NOTHING there. Just below my right shoulder blade and to the right of my spine. Itching and tingling sensation and the area has a slight numb feeling to it.

After some research I've found the answer and thought I would post it here as I found this site in my travels.

Its called Notalgia Paraesthetica and a link can be found below to read up on it.
