|

Hi there...about two months ago i began to have severe irritation and a swollen labia. it kept getting worse and worse, and finally i got it checked out. they said i had a yeast infection, and gave me some cream insert [7 day treatment] to fix it. but a week later it came back. everday it was the same thing. i went back to a gynecologist [before i went to a free clinic] and the doc gave me a one use insert, and an oral pill. they did not help whatsoever. its been 2 months all together and right now i cant even sleep because the irritation is so bad. it's unlikely that it is an STD...and the doctor's haven't mentioned it. what else could be wrong?? its inflamed and irritated and i do not know what to do!!
PLEEEEEASE HELP ASAP!!! |

Hello? What is your hygiene like? I am not trying to say that you are not clean, I just wanted to know if what kind of soaps you use when washing your genitals. I suppose you have already been introduced to harsh effects of strong detergents, fragrant lotions and things like that and that if your skin has been so sensitive, you should wash it with plain water.
I ran into some products that you could use for reducing the swelling and itchiness. Use laundry soaps for babies. Try aquaphor for reducing itching, baking soda sitz baths, and soaking in a bath of camomille tea bags.
Symptoms like: persistent itching or burning pain anywhere on the vulva, a red, pink or white lump with a wartlike or raw surface, painful urination or bleeding, a discharge not associated with your period could all be a sign of vulvitis or vaginitis but it could also indicate vulvar cancer (which is very, very rare).
What kind of tests have you had done at the gynecologist’s? |

HI, I'M SO SORRY YOU ARE GOING THRU THIS. I KNOW BECAUSE I HAVE HAD IT FOR 4 YEARS NOW. I HAVE HAD ANY TEST YOU CAN IMAGINE: FOR CANDIDA, ALL KINDS OF URINE AND BLOOD TESTS, ALLERGIES, EVEN LUPUS AND ALOT OF OTHERS THAT I CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER NOW. I REACHED THE POINT THAT NOT ONLY COULD I NOT SLEEP BUT THE ITCH SWELLING TINGLING AND SWELLING REACHED ME TO A POINT THAT I COULD UNDERSTAND WHY SOME PEOPLE DIDN'T WANT TO LIVE.
I AM NOT OVER IT, BUT I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO MEET AN OLD DERMATOLOGIST WHO BELIEVED IN PERSCRIBING OINTMENTS THAT HE CHOICE THE INGRIDIENTS. THE PHARMACIST HAD NEVER DONE THIS CREAM BEFORE AND I HAD TO WAIT 2 DAYS FOR HIM TO GET THE INGRIDIENTS. THEY ARE .50 DIBUCANE,TRIAMCIN,MENTHAL AND PHENOL. YOU APPLY VERY VERY LITTLE OF THIS CREAM. IT DIN'T CURE ME BUT IT MIGHT DO IT FOR YOU AND IT DOES RELIEVE THE SYMPTOMS FOR HOURS. SO GO TO A DERMATOLOGIST AND ASK HIM TO PERSCRIBE IT FOR YOU BECAUSE YOU CAN'T GET WITHOUT A PERSCRIPTION. I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THIS ITCHING COMES FROM. I HOPE I CAN FIND OUT ONE DAY. GOOD LUCK TO YOU,
TINA |

| A couple of months ago (a week before my menstrual period) I began to experience anal itching ... I didn't think much of it until a couple of days later when the itching continued and my vagina became to itch as well...A few days later I came on my period and by this time the itching was uncontrollable! This has been the most horrific ordeal I have ever experienced ... I went to the doctor and she couldn't find any thing significant in my vaginal area but she diagnosed me with vaginitis and advised me to get my sugar levels tested (diabetes) ... I don't have my results back yet ... Sometimes the itching is so intense I get a clean towel and RUB the itching area ... Of course afterwards it's burning like crazy, so I rub vaseline over my entire vaginal area and then place ice on the area ... It is sooooo soothing to do this .. In fact there have times when I could not sleep until I rub the vaseline and ice on my vaginal area ... I have even gone as far as using rubbing alcohol to soothe the itch ... Any recommendations from anyone that has worked? |

| Hi there It sounds like we are all in the same boat....Ive had these symptoms for almost 10 yrs...Ive gone to countless gynecologists and they alway tell me the yeast problem is the cause alas none of the creams the subscribe helps....I also have the itching around my anus and it makes sleeping more difficult...I have no discharge. no smell. no pain other than the annoying relentless itching...the thing about it is it doesnt spread its always in the same area and Im sooooo relieved to find Im not alone..thank u Jesus....As for how clean I am I sometimes shower twice a day to soothe the itch and I stopped using soap all together for this would dry out and aggrevate the spot on my labia majora.....I was just reading all of your above comments and Im determined to find relief or die trying....I did alot of net search and finally found something called Lichen Sclerosus...and ladies welcome back to the " we dont know how its caused" speach but if you want to google the name listed above you will find a steroidal cream that they say helps. and also a non steroidal cream called Tacrolimus which I fully intend to annoy the Dr. with when I go to see them...the only difference this time is I wont take Yeast infections for an answer...If this story sounds like you I wish you all a happy vagina. you deserve it! |

| I don't have time to read all entries, but have you ever heard of Vulvadynia? I discovered it while researching the same problem and found that the photos on-line relating to it, resembled my problem. I took the print-out to my doctor, who asked to keep it. A few days later, I met another woman on the east coast who was actually diagnosed with it, AFTER she read an article in a woman's health magazine. It is not something a doctor had ever mentioned to me. Good luck - perhaps you will find an answer researching this rare disorder. |

|
|
| I hope someone can give me some good advice, I have had vaginal itching, dryness on labia, my skin have even peeled which left my labia sore and sensitive. I am in severe pain most of the time, sometimes it hurts me to walk. The itching is so bad it affects my sleeping, and i can't hold a job without being irritated all the time. I have been to the doctor over a period of 8 years, I have been given all types of cream, which did not help and I believe I might be allergic to something. It hurts me to take baths or showers because my vaginal area is so sensitive because I scratch it often, and sometimes I scratch until I bleed. Please help me. |

| For about 2 years I too had horrible itching where I scratched constantly and nothing would relieve it. Went to the gynecologist and found out I had Lichen Sclerosus. I had scratched until the flesh had to turned to leather. She said it was a horrible case and I too used a towel to rub the area but nothing would relieve the itching. She prescribed CLOBETASOL cream. It worked! She also said it was a problem that is ongoing and never cured. |

| As the first post in this was a year or so ago I hope many of you have found a cure for your itching by now. If not, you could try Timodine which I had prescribed for me recently and which cured my horrendous itching which I had suffered for over 3 years. It is an anti-fungal - much stronger than Canestan - but it has other ingredients also. It takes a few days to take effect but it certainly more or less cured my itching although my doctor said it may return. I don't care - for now I am free of it! If you have not yet found relief I suggest you at least try Timodine out. It can't do any harm and may even be the answer to your prayers. |
