pinkish/brown discharge BETWEEN periods

My periods were perfectly regular, of course, until hubby and I decided we wanted to have our 1st baby. Then they decided to wait every 38-45 days. We tried for 3 months and conceived in Nov 05. Sadly, we lost the baby in January. The doc said to wait 6 months before trying again so we tried last month. I had a lighter period at the beginning of August so I figured I mustn't be pregnent so we tried again last night(my scheduled ovulation time). But afterwards there was a brownish/pinkish thin discharge(not at all like normal). What could be going on?
