hello. i have a problem. My last period was 10 days ago and yesterday I notice that i had pinkish discharge with some cramping. Aslo I noticed that my period came 1 week earlyer. I have been using Ortha_Evra for a couple of months I had stop using them like three months ago and before that I was on the shot for a year. I was wondering if that had something to do with it.
Please help me. Very Happy

Yes, you are most likely experiencing menstrual changes due to both shot and patch.
It may take a while for your body to start producing their own hormones and even if you had stopped taking the contraceptives, your body may still be under the influence of the hormones.

Women who use birth control pills usually need about 1-3 months to go back to their previous cycle but it may take up to a year. This period is much longer with shots and patches because estrogen is easier introduced to the body ( directly to the blood) and by using patches, your body gets 60% more estrogen that it would on regular birth control pills. I found this scary because I know how excessive estrogen can be. I can feel it every time before my periods arrive when the levels of estrogen rise.

Excessive estrogen has been linked to many negative effects and the word was that it increases the risks of cervical cancer.

I am not trying to scare you, I am just trying to say that it is very important that you visit a gynecologist on regular basis and have regular pap smears.

Although I think your current menstrual problems are related to your contraceptives, I would see a gynecologist anyway if I were you.
