Hi there - new to this forum so please be nice!
Im now 38yrs old and last October ( our wedding anniversary no less ) had an op for ovarian cancer. Huge mass so had to be cut straight down my stomach, past my section scar. Had hysterectomy as well. All better now thank god but I just cant stand the scar - have been using bio oil and taking vitamin E and stuff but is there anything else I can do?
I know its vain and I should be grateful to be here but I was a skinny minnie before ( getting there again now ) and was so proud of my flat tum - now I have a panic attack if my top moves up when I'm out and about ( and I'm normally super confident ).
I've been told (but not personally ) that scar revision surgery doesnt often work and sometimes the outcome can be worse than what you had in the first place - obviously not too keen on surgery now anyway ( now that Im back to normal and can move again! ) but I don't know what to do for the best - surgery, silicone, dermabrasion, laser treatment, injections or what - so any advice would be gratefully received thanks x

Smile

Hello! In my opinion, no one can tell you what you should do especially because there are many factors to be considered when talking about scar removal/reduction.
Considering we are talking about esthetics here, something that is very important to you, I would find a very experienced plastic surgeon and make an appointment.
It is important that you find someone who is well spoken of and has a lot of experiencing, in order to cut down the risks of things going wrong.
There are things that influence the procedure choice like the size, depth, place of your scar as well as blood supply to the area, the thickness and color of your skin, etc
Also, you need to think about expectations and be realistic because no scar can be completely removed. It certainly can be lessened, and made less visible but to make a good choice, you should talk to a professional, a plastic surgeon experienced in this area and see what s/he has to suggest to you after looking at the scar and hearing your expectations. They can suggest the most appropriate solutions, and give you advise and then it is up to you and your financial status to make that decision. This is at least how I would do it! Good luck!
