Had mine done last monday so a week and 3 days now?
Procedure itself was pretty painful at 1st the 1st injection felt mostly like someone pulling my hair not bad and went away after 5-10 secs.
The shots to numb the inside hurt a bit more but not overly bad.
However when he 1st started it took my breath away the whole time i was trying get myself to breathe and when he started i couldn't I told him and he gave me more anesthetic after about a minute it went away and he continues to pain. Same with otherside.
I went home entire day felt like I had gotten kicked in the groin but instead of the pain going away and movin up to my stomach it stayed. SLeep came eventually.
next few days were not bad kept myself clean used alchol swabs around the incision and neosporin with pain relief on the incision itself. Scant amt of bleeding on the gauze but not bad. After about 3 days i stopped the gauze but was still sore. Some bruising appeared near the penis which I read was normal. Also some bruising on the back of my scrotum havnt read about that anywhere.
I think thursday my daughter bumped into me slightly hurt like mad the bruising on back of my scrotum is pretty bad now almost teh entire back is black and blue.
Went to work on Sunday afternoon was still sore but could walk if I went slow had to sit down to rest every 15-25 min luckily my job doesn't require a lot of walking or doing much physical labor.
Monday my right testical is doing well no pain really from there however my left testi is hurting and is still a lil swollen.
Today is Thursday Right testi is doing great left is ok but next to my left testical is a painful area thats swollen up and feels hard I think its a collection of blood. Im hopping it doesn't get worse bruising has been starting to clear but its still pretty prevalent. Walking isnt too bad but I still have to take it easy. Ill keep posting my progress. Wish me luck on this swollen area. |

Had mine Friday (4/20/07) performed by urologist.
Very surprised at how long it took. Approximately 30 minutes per side and he seemed to be working the entire time.
Initial shots were far from pleasant but not horrible. First injection was a bit of a shock but numbed area so other shots were no big deal.
Knock on wood but I have had absolutely NO pain or discomfort. When I got home Friday I went straight to bed and lounged from 1:00 p.m. until about 6:00. Went in the den and sat a while and watched TV and had a nice vodka drink or 2. Kept frozen peas or corn in my lap off and on all day Friday after I got home and for a while on Sunday. I think that helped more than anything in avoiding problems.
Did not sleep great that first night mainly out of fear that I would turn over or do something that might hurt.
Saturday was fine. Sat around all day and did absolutely no physical activity and did the same on Sunday. Now back at work and having no problems at all.
All in all there was nothing to it. Am going to keep taking it easy this week and then get back to normal this weekend. I told my doctor I'd never again make fun of my wife after complaining about her visits to the OBGYN after he held my boys in his hand for an hour! |

I probably found this forum the same way as most of you - wondering how other people feel after - I think my experience is similar to others.
Had op 11 days ago now. The op itself (under local) was 15 minutes of hell as far as I was concerned - I am very "sensitive" down below and found it all very uncomfortable. But I kept telling myself that it was nothing compared to the wife having 2 kids. Not sure who you guys go to for dental work - but mine is much more pleasant experience than that! The "kick in the bits" feeling is never much fun, but usually is short lived - not with this operation though!
I was at home less than 2 hours after the op (the great british health service needed the beds!) and rested up the rest of the day. I had to get that scrotal support off within an hour of being home (probably a mistake) but it felt really uncomfortable so used the "tight pants" option with a gauze.
Not much bleeding, a little overnight, but plently of discomfort. I didn't work on the Friday. First trip out on the Saturday to watch my team (Walsall FC) get promotion - not to strenuous a day. The following days (3-5) were a mixture of aching and bruises etc. Days 5-now, still aching a little - esp if I bend quickly without thinking, but the worst thing now is the wound - I guess it's the healing process, but it itches/hurts with anything touching it - i.e. clothing, or without clothes my penis. Now (11 days later) it is still that way - but to a lesser extent, thoughs of Sex are still at the back of my mind (unusually!) and I think I will give exercise a miss for a couple of weeks yet.
I'm sure all will be OK in time - but if for any reason it hasn't worked - I think I will take a vow of celebacy!!!! |

I had my procedure last thursday and right now it is day 4. I am a very active triathlete. The only complaint I have is getting up from sitting down. I didnt ice my boys at all, felt like I didnt need to. I have no swelling only minor bruising and actually have been itching to go for a jog since Saturday. So what do I do?
I read on various sites about the 3-5 rule or should I wait until Thursday? As well when I get back in the pool, bike on my stationary? I just dont want to get out of shape.
Thanks and respond asap. |

Just had mine done on 4/20/07 friday.
Was nervous as hell with my 2 & 1/2 hr. wait in the waiting room!!
procedure took aprox 1/2 hour after I was numb, but covered my face w/ my hat & absolutely dreaded every second of the process!
After reading your stories it feel's odd the way some of you where done, I only had 1 incision about a 1/2 in long & I didn't even get my sack stitched, he said it would heal better on its own! (WRONG!) another thing that gets me is so many said about getting pain med.s, he told my to take Advile! I feel cheated now, cuz i'm hurting still 5 days after.
1st day was sore but not bad as i thought, but as the days pass I feel that im getting worse, as I'm sitting here my incision feels like its on fire & my balls, like ive been kicked in them everyday since.
Im here for the same reasons most of you are, to see if this is normal & or to see what the side effects are. I thought i would be getting better , but feels like the soreness is getting worse
unfortunately I waited till now to look up side effects,I found a page with some scary info on it to post vas. surgery but cant place it here, but bookmarked the page, if you would like to see it E- mail me & i'll send you a link. GGRNDRAGON@aol.com
Hopefully this gets better, but already regret doing it!
Well good luck to everyone's healing process, hope you have better luck than me! |

Man does this stuff sound familiar! I had mine done 5 days ago. I also got hose and only got Tyelenol 3 for pain meds. They do pretty much nothing as far as I can tell.
The procedure itself was fine. Only too 20m or so and I'd say that the anxiety of the whole thing was the worst part. The physical pain wasn't that bad.
As for the recovery... I left the office feeling fine. Ran some errands for a few hours and then I started to feel the soreness kind of like a pulled groin with a kick to the stones. 5 days later, I'm doing pretty much what I want and it's not too bad. Just a mild kick to the nuts feeling. Getting up from sitting really sucks and getting in and out of my truck is no fun but not terrible.
Actually, what hurts the most now is reading these posts! I'm laughing at the misery that I'm sharing with everyones "constant kicked in the jewels" stories and over-doing it accounts. Pretty much my situation.
My uncle has a 250# barrel of Roundup in the back of his truck right now that I just won't be able to help him move. Just thinking about that thing hurts the boys something awful!
Good luck guys! At least us married guys in our 30's with kids have tons of sex to make it worth while right. |

I am a 45 year old, and had my vasectomy 24 hours ago. Although there is some sensitivity, it hasn't been bad at all. The operation was 15 minutes and other than the burning of the local, it was relatively painless.
I took an OTC advil yesterday and one this morning. Other than a couple glasses of wine last night, that is it.
Far as I can tell, you need to listen to the doctor and get off your feet and keep the jewels clean, dry and iced down. I got some dry ice and put is in a cooler next to the bed and have rotated my frozen peas and frozen corn. Seems to be working quite well.
Have your fun the night before, and work the sympathy as best you can. If you wife scoreboards you with the pain she's been through, remember, giving birth is a NATURAL act, this isn't. This is one for the team.
Good luck. |

I'm three weeks post-vasectomy.
About three days after surgery I had tremendous swelling of the scrotum and couldn't even walk. Took about two weeks for that to go away.
I still have some moderate pain and a rather large lump above my left testicle. My doctor says the lump should go away ... so far it has only gotten bigger and needless to say I'm quite worried about it.
I know others who have had complications including blood clots. Sometimes those go away, sometimes you need surgery to remove them. |

| I'm thinking the pain afterwards has to do with the doc - I think mine was unusually rough - from the shaving to the shots going in. He basically induced pain to see if the shots had worked. I think the swelling I'm left with is more from that than the operation itself. Just a theory, but the doc may make a big difference...kind of like the dentist - some are rough, some are good. My advice would be to check out your doc before the operation, and possibly take a relaxation drug to help you relax. |
