Hello! Can you give me information how long after stopping accutane can I get pregnant? I am still on the drug but was wondering when I can get pregnant and what may happen if I got pregnant while on the drug.

It is crucial you don’t get pregnant while on Accutane. Talk to your doc about getting the right contraceptives as birth control pills may be not enough. You may have to use two forms of bc pills or one form and additionally condoms because it is not known if Accutane would decrease bc pills’ effects. This is important because accutane has been found to cause both birth defects and neurological disorders but also lead to miscarriages and premature births. So, make sure you get protected. You should wait for at least one month after stopping the drug to get pregnant. If you already got pregnant it is crucial you stopped taking the drug and talked to your doctor asap.

YES ACCUTANE WILL absolutely without a doubt cause very severe birth defects.
Women who get pregnant on the drug are typically hgihly encouraged to terminate the pregnancy.
