pregnant and bleeding at 40 weeks

ok my friend is haveing a baby she is due October 3rd (tomorow) and she has been haveing some contractions and the are not regular contractions well she called me and told me she is bleeding, and that she is going to go to the dr later cause her husband isnt home to watch the kids. Is bleeding that far along normal or Ok or do I need to go make her go to the Dr.?????????
