pregnant and smoking weed is it bad?

Anyone using any type of drug or alcohol, will have side effects from that drug. Hilucinations, muscle relaxing, increased appetite, speeding up the heart, blood and breathing rate, the ability to remember or learn is impaired, and lung and other cancers. Just like second hand smoke, effecting the innocent bystanders in a room full of smokers.... so can any inducement effect that of an unborn fetus. Eating well promotes good health for both mother and baby,... ingesting any product will give the same effects to the unborn fetus as to the mother. They are dont forget, attached via the ambilical cord. So any development of the heart, brain, bones, tissue, are all impacted by what is and isn't being contributed to its development. Think about it, it is an extension of yourself.

Why the heck would you want to risk taking something that could potentially harm your baby? People like you shouldn't even be allowed to have children....

smoking pot is bad for you (exceot in extreme medicinal cases)...it increases your heart rate, screws up your brain chemistry, etc...

YOur baby didn't ask to be exposed to it..yet you are giving he/she no choice....

An ex friend of mine smoked pot throughout her pregnancy despite being warned that it could cause things like premature birth, colic, respitory problems etc..not to mention that later in life he runs a much higher risk of extreme depressions, ADHD/ADD, delayed development etc.

When the baby was born (a month premature due to the mother's selfish inability to put the child first) he was put in an incubator had had a machine breathing for him for the fisrt 5 weeks of his life....

When he was brought home he suffered extreme boughts of colic. He has also scince been hospitalized for pheumothorax (collapsed lungs) twice (all before his first birthday)

I'm not saying that these things would not have happened with/without pot...but as a mother to be...why the heck would you take that chance...

being a mother is about self sacrifice and (no offence) but if you're not ready to put your baby first then maybe you should be one....(use birthcontrol?)

And for all you pot smokers that are ready to jump down my throat for blasting your drugs use....i'll say this...it's your choice if you want to be a pot head....your kid gets no say in the matter so it's unfair...and at some point you WILL put your addiction before your child...(just look at the way some of you are trying to justify drug use during pregnancy!)

Everyone has their own different opinions on smoking weed..Its completely up to you wether you decide to smoke weed while pregnant or not i couldnt stand the smell of weed the first couple of weeks i was pregnant after the 3rd month i smoked thorughout my pregnancy my doctor never really suggested anything else for stress other than yoga(which is not me) my baby came out completely fine she is really advance in her development and my doctor says shes really smart so the real question in this case would be Could you really bear the thought of smoking weed while carrying your own child in the womb? its a question for you not for your friends to answer or your family to answer its for you to answer my aunt had 5 kids which she all smoked weed thoughout all her pregnancy's an they all came out good no problems and her kids are not into drugs and the youngest one is 13

If an adult wants to take the health and legal risk or smoking pot, most of the time I say it's their business. However it makes me pretty sad to see the parent who won't give up substance use just because she doesn't think there's a 100% chance it's going to harm her baby. That's love right there. If there was any indication at all that it would harm your baby, would you really want to take that risk?

If you have or are smoking pot while you pregnant......Could you people be BIGGER LOSERS????

I am in my thirties, my mother smoked pot while pregnant with me and I have had medical problems SPECIFICALLY asthma related issues since I was born SIX WEEKS too soon and spent the first two months in a incubator. I have had three specialist and two allergist tell me that it was most likely due to the fact my mother spoked marijuana while pregnant.

Also if your on public assistance the law requires you and your newborn to be tested for several drugs....if found positive they WILL take your child away.

You people shouldn't even have kids....grow up!

For anyone who thinks marijuana is a 'drug' or 'narcotic', I have never heard of anyone having a miscarriage cause they smoked a bowl. No stoned driver has killed a family of four on the highway. If it were meth or something created in a lab, then no don't do those drugs. Pot is actually a good medicine to cure things like aches and pains and nausea. Hey, Immortal one... Don't go to Cali. People get prescriptions for that shit. Even pregnant people. And drop the shit if it is about religion. That wasn't a part of this at all.

FOR ALL OF YOU,, IVE BEEN SMOKING WEED SINCE I WAS 16.FOR 11 YEARS EVERYDAY ALL DAY LOTS AND LOTS ..I HAVE 3 CHILDREN AND SMOKED WITH EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM .. MY FIRST WAS 7 POUNDS ALMOST 8POUNDS .2ND CHILD WAS 6 POUNDS AND MY 3RD CHILD WAS 7.2 POUNDS.. MY OLDEST 2 CHILDREN ARE NOT ONLY HEALTHY.BUT VERY SMART.. BOTH MY CHILDREN ARE IN A MENTALLY GIFTED CLASS.
MY DAUGHTER OUTTA THOUSANDS HAS BEEN CHOSEN FOR AND ART PIECE THAT SHE DONE AS A NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION.. HOW MANY CHILDREN DIED BECAUSE OF WEED? HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IN PRISON BECAUSE OF SOMETHING THEY DID ON WEED? HOW MANY MURDERS ARE IN JAIL CAUSE THEY WHERE HIGH ON WEED? YOU FIGURE IT OUT.. Whether you should or should not smoke weed while pregnant is moot. It is you body and you can do what you will. Will people condemn you for it? Yes. Will people think it is alright? Of course. The real issue is why. Weed is an illegal substance. Unless prescribe by a doctor, usually in California who is high on weed anyway, it is deemed bad for you. Therefore, if you are pregnant, it is bad for your fetus/unborn child. If you feel weed has a bad rap, which you obviously do since you smoke the stuff, then you do not feel it harms you in anyway; therefore, you are not harming your child by this logic. These answers should be used specifically for YOUR BODY.Because there is proof that the THC (narcotic chemical created in the buring of weed) is dangerouse stuff, you should refrain from smoking it while you are pregnant. Just as the legal smoking of cigarrettes should be avoided while pregnant because of the carcengens created when it is burned. You can impose your views onto your child when they arrive here.
