I was thinking to do prophylactic masectomy as a prevention method for a breast cancer. My aunt died from a breast cancer, and I am not sure but maybe it is family thing. I am 43 now and she was 47 when she died.

Prophylactic mastectomy is one option for intervention considered by some women at defined high breast cancer risk; others believe that the option of prophylactic mastectomy should be available to women in families with apparent inherited breast cancer high risk. And of course those who by genetic testing are determined to carry mutations in breast cancer associated genes. The use of any prevention intervention, such as prophylactic mastectomy depends on: identifying the individual at high-risk and demonstrated efficacy of the intervention.
