Is protruding sternum symptom of any disorder? I know a person with protruding sternum and am concerned about her health. Does it hurt? Can it be modified or corrected with surgery?

Protruding sternum may be isolated condition. Sometimes it’s a sign of Marphan’s syndrome. I read about that because I was interested in it too. But Marphan’s syndrome includes more skeletal malformation, like very long bones and spider like fingers. It affects cardiovascular system and may cause death. Pigeon chest may be corrected by surgery.
