Hi, my relative suffers from proximal myopathy for several years. I am visiting him from time to time but his condition is more, less always the same. Sometimes he feels better but sometimes he needs my assistance to walk from bed to chair. I would like to know something more about this disease and its prognosis.

Hi, myopathy in general is very severe disease which unable people to function properly. proximal myopathy is sort of myopathy where are affected muscles on the chest, backs and pelvis. Distal musculature on arms and legs is spared. Muscle weakness is usually symmetrical while tone and reflexes are usually normal.
