Hi, I would like to know more about Prozac’s safety, since it has been accused of increased number of suicides in patients taking it.

Hi, certainly it is not a drug that can be taken without thinking about it’s side effects. If a person who is prescribed with Prozac experienced any suicidal thoughts, the drug should be stopped. Prozac can make people leave their inhibitions and do things they usually wouldn’t. There is a case where a woman shot her husband and then shot herself while she was on Zoloft therapy, so it is not safe to take any antidepressants at all. Recent studies revealed that between 10 to 20 percent of those taking Prozac experience mania or mental restlessness. Occasionally, they can lose inhibition about their reactions.
