My 2 years old son was diagnosed urinary infection. In lab they isolated pseudomonas in his urine sample. Previously he had respiratory infection and was on cefadroxile. Antibiogramm shown that pseudomonas was not sensitive on that antibiotic. He takes zithromax, has started 2 days ago. I haven’t found any data about zithromax& pseudomonas connection. Would be grateful to get more info. Thanks in advance.
Zithromax is effective against pseudomonas, but it does not kill it directly, because it is not its mechanism of action. In fact its mechanism of action is not quiet as well known. But its anti-inflammatory effect is evidenced in pseudomonas infections. Zithromax is a bit more effective and easier to use than biaxin, because is taken once daily. Pseudomonas is usual acquired infection in hospitals environment and is not that uncommon. Just don’t miss to give your son his dose regularly and don’t be worried about side effects that usually affect intestinal system, like diarrhea and stomach discomfort.
