questions about myositis

Hi. A friend of mine suffers from some sort of a pain, and weakness in the muscles and she was diagnosed with myositis. Would like to know more about myositis, like what is that, what are the symptoms and treatment options. Anybody with info?

Hi. I was diagnosed with myositis and it`s a rare disease in which the immune system chronically inflames your healthy muscle tissue. The cause of what triggers the immune system's attack is unknown. Inflammation progressively weakens the muscles. The first sign of myositis are weakness and pain in the muscles of the hips and shoulders. This disease can affect the muscles of your neck and throat, lungs or chest muscles. A rash on the face is also one of the symptoms. There is no cure for myositis, but treatment with prednisone may slow down the attack on tissue. For pain relief - Aspirin or Ibuprofen. Also, there is a physical therapy.
