I have few question regarding radiation colonitis.
What is it actually?
When does it happen?
What are symptoms of radiation colonitis?
How is radiation colonitis diagnosed?

Hey there,
Colitis is an inflammation of the colon. Radiation colitis occurs following radiation therapy and may occur years after initial radiation therapy.
Symptoms of radiation colitis are diarrhea, tenesmus, mucoid discharge and hematochezia (similar to rectal bleeding). Radiation colitis is diagnosed with endoscopy (they insert tube with small camera through your anus…). It is not a pleasant procedure, but it is effective.
