I have problem with gastric secretion. I use Mylanta or Zantac and I found them very effective. Anyway, ranitidine is my drug of the first choice. It helps me in reducing the amount of acid and causes no side effects. I am interested in its possible side effects during pregnancy.
Ranitidine is H2 blocker; it relieves sour stomach and acid indigestion. But this antihistamine has not been studied in pregnant women. It belongs to FDA category B, which means that you can not be sure in its safety. It would be the best to avoid drugs during the first three months of pregnancy.
