Hi, I have been in a relationship for five years. For the first couple of years everything was wonderful. Now I feel that we have fallen into a rut. I don't feel excitement any more. My boyfriend does not suspect anything and I don't know how to talk to him about it? Could it be that I am not in love with my boyfriend any more?

Hi, if you expect that the emotions you felt at the beginning of the relationship would last all your life you are terribly wrong. Scientists have explained that we feel these intense emotions because of the hormones that our body produces at the beginning of the relationship. In time, these effects fade out and the relationship goes into a new, more mature stage. I guess that you have come to this point in your relationship and that you are confused about the emotions you are feeling. The best thing to do is to be honest with your boyfriend and explain to him how you feel. I am sure that he will have to say something about this problem too. You should try to solve this problem between yourselves. If this does not work, you could always go to a couples counselor and get some professional help.
