Hello! A month ago when I was driving down the road, I got this weird rash. The day was hot and sunny and my skin started to get red and itchy all of a sudden, and yet I started to swell. It is how it all began. Then I was diagnosed with solar urticaria. I would like to hear other people’s experiences with this allergy and what remedies you are using. Thanx

Hello there! I have been talking to many people about this allergy and only few of them have same answers about the treatment. There is no cure, that is for sure. Usually people are using sun creams with titanium oxide or zinc oxide, but they don’t seem to help much. Other use antihistamines, but they have different impact on different people. I am going to try allegro now, and see what its affect. Gotta run now! Bye

I have solar urticaria. Solar urticaria are hives (large, itchy red bumps) that develop after only a few minutes of exposure to sunlight. The hives appear within 10 minutes of sun exposure and go away within an hour or two after leaving the sunlight. People with large affected areas often have headaches and feel weak and nauseated. Photosensitivity Reactions Sunlight and Skin Damage Merck Manual Home Edition
I take antihistamines and use a sunscreen that protects against visible light.
I have created a support group for sun sensitive people. We are at
groups.yahoo.com/group/sun1/ To join, you need to join yahoo, then join our group. Please come by and say hi. Our website is at http://sun1.awardspace.com/

Sun sensitivity shows usually shows up as a bad sunburn in a very short amount of time. Sun sensitivity can be due to drugs or medications, plants, phototoxicity and diseases.

This is how mine started 2.5 years ago, one day fine next not, I tried all the usual stuff and tried staying covered up, only to make it worse. Last year I spent as much time as possible in and out of the sun, short periods at first. I built up enough tolerence to go to the beach several times, not pushing my luck I covered with a towel some and went in and out of the shade. With a tan built up I started each summer day with the redness but the itching was not as bad, and once I had exposure for the day that same area rarely got red again. Now that it's winter I have to start all over again, I just came in from a short walk swollen and itchie. Next stop tanning bed.

We represent "Unauthorized Ad", an on-line company supplying customized vitamin supplements to the USA. We hope this information may be of interest to you.
Urticaria is an allergic reaction in the skin characterized by white or pink welts or large bumps surrounded by redness. These welts are known as wheal and flare lesions and are caused primarily by the release of histamine (an allergy mediator) in the skin.
Dr Balch's nutritional team has created a formula designed to help the body maintain optimal immune system health. Strong components have also been added to help reduce the levels of histamine in the system. Vitamin C is required for the formation of connective tissue and plays an important role in maintaining proper immune function. Several studies have suggested that Vitamin B12 may help reduce the frequency and severity of hives. Quercetin is a bioflavonoid which possesses beneficial antioxidant qualities. Green Tea contains the polyphenols epigallocatechin (EGC) and epicatechin gallate (ECG) that have been reported to have an antihistamine effect in in vitro tests.
Dr. Balch works with "Unauthorized Ad" to provide custom-made natural remedies for anyone who wants an all-in-one daily supplement that addresses all their health concerns, as well as providing the vitamins and minerals needed for optimum health and wellness.
If you are concerned or unsure about your symptoms, please contact your healthcare provider for professional medical advice. |
