Hi, my brother is 42 years old and he is suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. He is visiting his rheumatologist regularly and on his last visit his doctor told him that he is very satisfied with his condition because he was in remission. I would like to know something more about this term and does it mean that he is healthy now?

Hi, unfortunately rheumatoid arthritis is disorder which goes in the waves. It has it phases when symptoms are worsening but also some of patients enter remission phases. Remission is phase in which clinical symptoms are absent and patient feels very good, such phase may last pretty long but it doesn't mean that disease is cured.
