I have the idea of becoming very active in mountain bicycle road races but I don't know how to start with preparations. I run and race with my bike on my own for years now but I never participated in any road bike race and that is my wish no.1 currently. So I would like to hear where to start and what are the preparations alike? Thanks!

Hi there! Why don't you ask around what is the best mountain biking road races school that provides basic preparations and trainings oriented in participating on bike road races all over the world. It is good for you probably have basic knowledge of controlling your bike on the mountain ground but road races are not the same thing –you need to be prepared physically and it could take months and even year in some cases. You should do some fitness training in order to manage to deal with the difficulties of road races for as you must have know it already it is most about physical endurance and your health condition and you could achieve that with regular and frequent aerobic and anaerobic activities in combination with healthy food and sleep/rest habits.

I think a good way to get yourself mentally prepared would be a charity fund raising ride, where you can ride along side other bikers in a noncompetitive, yet intense ride. You can see how well you par up with others and will get a better idea of how you fare.
