Oxycontine is in a class of drugs called narcotic analgesics. Oxycontine is used to treat moderate to severe pain, it is basically a pain reliever. Less serious side effects of this drug are constipation, dry mouth, vomiting, nausea, sweating, itching etc. More serious ones are an allergic reaction that causes difficulty breathing, closing of your throat, swelling of your lips, tongue, or face, causing hives etc. I hope that your friend will look for help and get rid of this dangerous habit.
