I was wondering if anyone here has had problems with salicylates. My mouth, lips, tongue, and throat swell, and I have a cough. I took Benadryl, it takes care of most symptoms and I take Alavert daily too to keep a dose of antihistamines in my system. I actually don’t know anyone with similar problem. Any suggestions?

People all over the world share the inconvenience of having intolerance to one or more elements or chemicals found naturally or introduced in our food. I can suggest you a book Fed Up by Sue Dengate, where she explains the failsafe diet which is a low chemical elimination diet, free of additives, low in salicylates, amines and flavour enhancers. I think you can find there a list of fruits, vegetables, nuts, snacks, sweets, herbs, spices, condiments, beverages, fats and oils with the salicylate content categorized.
