Hi, a friend of mine is suffering from pulmonarysarcoidosis. He had a terrible cough that just would not go away so he went to the doctor. A large number of tests were done until the doctor came up with the solution. The doctor has told him that this sarcoidosis is a condition that usually goes away on its own after some time. But my friend is taking some tablets so I am worried that his condition is not that naïve. What is the prognosis for pulmonary sarcoidosis in patients that are under medication?

When a person has these problems treatment for pulmonary sarcoidosis is necessary. If the condition in these patients is not treated granulomas can develop into fibroid tissue that is no longer functional and the patient’s lung capacity is reduced. However the cases in which pulmonary sarcoidosis caused major complications are extremely rare. In the large number of patients the lungs clear out spontaneously, or with the help of medicines. The recovery is long and the person is healed after two to three years. Even after this period your friend will have to have regular check ups to make sure that the condition does not return.
