Hi, my brother had fever, frequent and very painful urination. He went to a doctor, and after some tests, it turned out that he has bacteria called serratia marcescens in his urinary tract. Is this infection dangerous?

Hello, I suffered from this infection twice. The first time when I was a teenager, serratia marcescens caused me a conjunctivitis. However, the second time was more serious. I had the same problem as your brother. Serratia marcescens infected my urinal tract, and all I remember is how painful and unpleasant feeling it was. I had to go to the bathroom every five minutes. I had to stay in the hospital for two days, and then was sent home. I continued a treatment with antibiotics, until I cured. There are a few risk factors for severe infections with serratia marcescens, like old age, chronic diseases and previous antibiotic treatment.
