severe right-sided neck pain and skin rash

Approximately one week ago I developed severe right sided neck pain. After this started, I noticed a rash over the back of my neck extending down into my upper back. This is the only place I have the rash. I am taking pain medication and Advil, so the severe pain has gone, but the rash persists. Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this. I have taken both medicines before without a reaction. Thanks.
