Hi! By the age three, most boys should be able to retract their foreskin. However, in some boys it may take longer than that. It is important to see what the problem appears to be. Is the opening too narrow, so that it can’t be retracted? Some parents start retracting the boys’ foreskin when they are little, so that it wouldn’t get stuck. This shouldn’t be dome forcefully as more damage could be done to the foreskin like scarring.

If his opening is to narrow, you should try retracting it. If it doesn’t go, let it be and see a pediatrician. They will be able to give you all the further instruction. If your soon has congenital phimosis, a doctor may prescribe a corticosteroid to help it stretch. Don’t do anything on your own until you have been given the instruction based on the individual case of your son.

In some cases, congenital phimosis resolves spontaneously after the age of four. However, it is impossible to tell when and if this would occur.

You also forgot to talk about the fact that most boys are born with their foreskin stuck to the head of the penis. It is sort of glued together. This gets unstuck over time. Some pediatricians force the skin back but i wouldnt recommend this because it might cause scarring. Try soaking it a little and then trying to pull the skin back little by little. This might take some time. Sometimes it just gets unstuck when boys start masturbating.
