My sister has rheumatoid arthritis. The symptoms she has experienced were pain on the joints, redness of those areas, higher temperature and swelling too. For the therapy she used diclophen that damaged her stomach. She uses dexamethasone now and I would like to know about side effects of dexamethasone. Can it damage the stomach? She has already suffered enough.
Unwanted effects from dexamethasone happens when they are used for a long time and/or in big doses. Those side effects are hyperglycemia, insomnia, bigger appetite, extra weight, all sorts of infection etc. Unfortunately, there is a possibility of stomach ulcers, so taking this med should be monitored by a doctor.
