Hello. I'm 18 year old female and there is one thing I would like to find information about. You see, I haven’t seen my best friend for at least a month. She’s hardly leaving her house because she is with her mother constantly. I really don’t know a lot about all this but before all this- she told me that her mother has been diagnosed with some disease called Lupus and that it is very serious.
I was devastated when I heard about this because she’s really my best friend and I was very close with her mother. I would like to find out how serious this disease really is and what are the signs, symptoms and options for treatment of this disease?

Hi. I'm very sorry about your friend and her mother but I must tell you that it really is very serious disease. I know that Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease-which means that immune system becomes hyperactive and attacks normal tissue and reasons are still unknown.
Problem with it is that Lupus can occur at any age and in either sex but in more then 90% we are talking about women.
Most common symptoms are achy or swollen joints, persistent fever, and prolonged, extreme fatigue; skin rashes-especially one butterfly shaped rash across the nose, pain in the chest and many others.
This is incurable disease although, with today’s medications person with lupus can expect to live a normal life span.

I am 38 years old and just found out that my spleen is dying. I have had many test run and now they are checking me for lupus. Is it possible for lupus to make your spleen die? I now know that I had a blood clot pass through my spleen, is that part of lupus?

Hello I'm 19 with lupus, Lol I don't even think I spelled it right but living with lupus doesn't stop me from doing the things I want, I lift weights and I was in sports, it all on a matter of how youtake care of your self cause when I was told I had lupius I was in good shape but then I started to lose weight and got really skinny, but over time I took my med's and ate like a horse and I'm finally at the size I was but I'm stronger now cause I take better care of my body I stopped junk food I run more often and I think I'm in better shape than before this happened, I let my friends know I had lupius and they were woundering what it was, but they don't treat me any different. All I'm trying to say is I'm proof that you can go for what ever you set your mind too, like I have just talk to other people like myself and you'll see, but its hard for me cause I don't know anyone else with lupus and every time I talk to someone with lupus it makes me feel like I'm not alone and I just have to give them hug and tell them its going to be ok so anyone with lupius would like to talk more about it than please write me at www.mixmaster1403@tmail.com or www.mixmaster1403@aol.com thank you and we are not alone
