Hello all! I may have a problem but am not so sure. It is about my 16 years old son. I heard him yesterday; when I was passing by his room, talk about skoal dipping with his friends. First I thought of school skipping, but I am not so sure. Could it be something in slang that I don’t understand? All the info is more than welcome! Thx

I believe that the boys were talking about chewing tobacco. Here in Denmark, skoal is one of the most popular tobacco brands. I don’t know how they managed to buy some; here you can’t buy tobacco if you are under age. Maybe on the street, or some of the kids ditched some from their parents.

it isn't chewing tobacco that they are talking about it is just dip CHEWing tobacco you chew dip sits in between your bottom lip and your gum and they may get people to buy it for them or take it from others it is definately not hard to find they may buy it themselves without getting id'd or getting an older friend to purchase it for them

DIPPING IS VERY DANGEROUS. HERE IN LOUISIANA YOU CAN GET IT IF YOU ARE 18 BUT NO YOUNGER. YOU SHOULD ASK YOUR SON ABOUT IT BECAUSE ITS NOT A GOOD HABIT TO START

My brother-in-law died of throat cancer caused by dipping. He was 44 years old. I watched this wonderful, handsome man waste away to nothing. Those last few weeks were agonizing...especially watching my 16 year old neice as her Daddy slipped further and further away from us. He was dead less than 8 months after being diagnosed.

First of all I'm sorry to hear about your brother-In law that is very sad and very scary. I'm 20 years old and I have been dipping since i was around 14 years old. I have tried to quit many times. And it scares me to know that i may do it untill its too late. I started dipping because my older brother did it and i also play baseball and football, where its very common, so i have always been around it. I did not realize that i was addicted at first no one ever starts thinking "im going to get addicted" it just happens. now it seems impossible for me to quit. i go through about a tin and a half a day. i know it's bad for my health it is just hard to quit when you do not see any immediate symptoms. I hope your son does not start dipping. Alot of times i forget that they put the warning label on the tin for a reason...
