I would like to know if it is possible to have two related autoimmune diseases like sle and hyperthyroidism at the same time! Thank you for your time!!!
Hello! It seems as if it is possible because I was just reading the other day about some reported cases of presence of both sle and hyperthyroidism. It is possible that the diagnosis of hyperthyroidism precedes that of SLE, that the diagnosis of hyperthyroidism was made after that of SLE, and that both diseases began simultaneously. However, many patients with SLE will have antithyroid antibodies, but may not necessarily develop thyroid disease. Both of the diseases are successfully treated.
