We started learning about human body in school. Though it all seems very fascinating, still I cannot find my way in that sea of information. We learned about small blood vessels, capillary vessels, and I just do not understand them. What is their main purpose? Is their role different in lungs from those in the rest of the body?
Capillary vessels – their main purpose is active role in exchanging oxygen and carbon dioxide. This exchange is based on physics law of pressure, but that should not concern you for now. In lungs, they have the same role, but the situation is a bit different for veins and arteries. The lung arteries are the only arteries that carry blood with carbon dioxide, and lung veins are only veins that carry oxygenic blood.
