smaller kidney leads to hypertension?

Hi. I`m 24 yo female and have one kidney smaller then the other one. My doc has told me that this is completely normal, and that I will lead a normal life without problems. However, I have a high blood pressure and wonder could this smaller kidney be the cause of my hypertension? Should it be removed?

One kidney is always smaller than the other one, it`s all normal. But, if both kidneys are small, there may be kidney failure. Also, one small kidney can cause problems such as high blood pressure (even if the other one is normal size). Surgical removal of a small kidney is a common procedure, but not always needed. If a small kidney is giving you no problems there is no need to remove it. But, If the kidney is causing you pain or high blood pressure, removal may be recommended.
