Hi. I have a son that is ten years old and he goes, besides normal school, to junior music school. He is very talented and has no problem performing in front of us (his parents) and his teacher. He had a concert and he was so freaked out that he was playing out of tune. It is clear that he has social anxiety. How can I make him build self esteem?

First he must want to have more self esteem. It is hard to be growing up with social anxiety disorder. There is few ways that he can build self esteem. Exposure is the first one. This means that he should have concerts as much as he can and he will get over it eventually. Other is to never have another concert, which is not an option. Those are the non medical solutions. Better that than to drinks some meds.
